Born and Raised

Indianapolis is where Tri-Loco was born and raised. In 2012 a handful of team-less triathletes began to form a bond at local races. Before long Gregg Garcia and Bryan Schmidt decided to unify the close knit group under the banner Tri-Loco. The origin of name stems from Bryan's phrase "Lets Get Loco" when headed into hard workouts and races.

The team quickly grew in membership around the mission of having fun at races. "Speed second, support, friendship and family first."

In 2015, then president Gregg Garcia moved south to Louisville, KY. where a spark was lit for the second chapter of Tri-Loco. With this move leadership of the Indianapolis chapter was passed over to Josh "Turtle" De Jong.

Making a difference.
Many times throughout the season we team up with Ainsley's Angels to promote inclusion in the sport! Find out more about AA here

Sebastian is the FIRST EVER Non-binary USAT National Champion at both the Olympic and Sprint distance. Their roots with triathlon run deep. As a child they grew up watching their father race almost every weekend. Sebastian is proudly sober for more than four years and is only getting started in the triathlon world. Many of their tattoos are self inflicted and expect to see an M dot very soon.

Dani obtained her love of running shortly after two years of playing Division 1 soccer at the University of Wisconsin. She honed her craft enough to outright walk onto the Wisconsin cross country and track teams, competing at NCAA Nationals in both sports (6K XC, 3K steeplechase). After graduation from pharmacy school and a stint running on the USATF elite circuit, triathlon seemed like the next logical outlet. Dani earned her USAT elite license in 2014 and competed professionally in triathlon in 2015-2016. She returned to the amateur ranks in 2017 and qualified for Kona by winning the overall female title at IRONMAN Wisconsin. In 2019, she was the overall winnder of IRONMAN Wisconsin 70.3, IRONMAN Muncie 70.3, Michigan Titanium 70.3 and age group winner in both sprint and olympic distance at the USAT National Championship. She was also named Tri Loco's Female Athlete of the Year for 2019. Dani cherishes the relationships she has built through the sport, and she revels in the experiences that the team atmosphere of Tri Loco provides.

In just her very first season of racing multi-sport, Acacia tackled 10 Triathlons, 2 half marathons and numerous 5 and 10k events. Doing so with the attitude of a champion every day, Acacia earned herself the inaugural "Freshest Newcomer" award at Tri Loco's 2019 award ceremony. Acacia stated "my most memorable event of the season was racing a relay at IM Muncie 70.3 with my team mates Lauren Kleist and Zach Root - Team LAZ. Sharing the group effort is something I will cherish my entire life."

Being so green to the sport, yet adding huge accolades to her resume, Acacia has this to say to other new comers: "enjoy every part of your growth in the sport, including the lows and rough training days. Do not feel forced to complete distances that others are doing, embrace your local triathlon community!"

Missing the team atmosphere, drive and competitive culture of college sports, Automne came to Tri-Loco shortly after graduation. One of the biggest draws to the club, for Automne, is the spirit and competitive comradery of Tri-Loco.
Automne is an avid traveler, having visited over 20 countries and counting. In 2019 she will add Switzerland to the list as she races for Team USA at the ITU World Championship. Qualifying with a 6th place finish at the USAT draft legal National Championships in Florida. She also placed 25th at her first ever USAT National Championship and was the proud recipient of the Tri-Loco “Most Improved” award in 2018. Her sights are set on a dominating performance at the 2019 Duathlon National Championship and nabbing her first recognition as an All American.

Logan has an extensive list of racing accolades, starting with his first event in 2010. Among this list you will find 8 Half Iron distance finishes, one 140.6, and close to 100 sprint and Olympic distance triathlons. In 2014 Logan was awarded USAT All-American. Like many of us, Logan finds that the sprint distance accommodates his life/train/work balance the best. Successfully demonstrating that he can make a come back from runners knee look as easy as a super sprint tri, Logan busted back onto the scene in 2019 claiming numerous age group victories and putting down a 1:24 half marathon while pushing an Angel Rider for Ainsley's Angels. Logan has big goals for 2020, and an even bigger heart!
